How teeth whitening works

A reliable way to have whiter teeth

Teeth whitening is a professional procedure that uses whitening gels to safely lighten tooth enamel and remove pigmentation caused by food, drinks, or smoking. Before the treatment itself, it is important that the teeth are clean and healthy, so it is recommended to undergo dental hygiene.

In our office we offer home teeth whitening , which allows the patient to use individually prepared trays with gel at home according to the instructions of a specialist. This method is convenient, safe and allows you to achieve uniform whitening of the teeth. During home whitening, temporary tooth sensitivity may occur, which usually subsides after the entire whitening treatment is completed. In our clinic, we work with White Dental Beauty home teeth whitening gels.

The procedure also includes checking the condition of your teeth and gums and advice on how to care for your teeth after whitening so that the effect lasts as long as possible.

Teeth whitening is suitable for patients who:

How is teeth whitening done?

Home teeth whitening step by step

  1. Consultation, dental hygiene and teeth impression
The doctor or dental hygienist will first assess the condition of your teeth and gums to assess whether whitening is appropriate. The preparation includes professional dental hygiene, which will remove tartar and surface pigmentation for an even result. An accurate teeth impression will then be taken, from which individual whitening trays will be made within a few days.
  2. Applying the whitening gel
You apply a prescribed amount of whitening gel with a safe concentration of the active ingredient to individual trays at home. The trays are worn according to instructions – usually for a few hours a day or overnight.
  3. Whitening time
The entire home whitening process takes approximately 10-14 days, depending on the desired shade and individual tooth sensitivity.
  4. Checking the result and maintenance care
After the whitening procedure, you will be checked by a doctor who will evaluate the result and recommend how to maintain the bleached shade – for example, with a short supplemental treatment once every few months.

Frequently asked questions

No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during the procedure. After the procedure, you may experience some mild swelling or tenderness, which usually subsides within a few days.

With proper care and regular check-ups, an implant can last for decades – often a lifetime.

From implant placement to crown placement, it usually takes 2-3 months, depending on individual healing.

Maintenance is the same as for your own teeth – regular cleaning, dental hygiene and check-ups at the dentist. This is what will ensure that the implant lasts as long as possible.

With early diagnosis and proper treatment, the inflammation can be stopped and the condition of the gums and bone can be stabilized. Advanced damage cannot always be completely reversed, but its progression can be significantly slowed down and your own teeth can be preserved.

The treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia and is gentle. Some patients may experience mild discomfort during deeper root cleaning, but the pain is well controlled.

Warning signs include bleeding when brushing, red or swollen gums, bad breath, loose teeth, or gaps between teeth. Even minor symptoms should be addressed promptly.

With proper care and regular check-ups, a crown or bridge can last 10–20 years or longer.

The tooth preparation and crown placement itself are performed under local anesthesia, so they are painless.

Just like with your own teeth: regular cleaning, interdental brushes, and visits to a dental hygienist or doctor for checkups.
